Getting to Guangzhou

### By Air Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) is one of the world's busiest airports and the hub for China Southern Airlines. Direct flights from virtually every major international city.

**Airport to City Center:** - **Metro Line 3:** The most reliable option, 45 minutes to Tianhe CBD (Tiyu Xilu station). Runs 6:10 AM - 11:30 PM. Cost: ¥8-12. - **Airport Express Bus:** Multiple routes to different city areas, ¥12-36, runs until midnight. - **Taxi/DiDi:** About ¥120-150, 40-60 minutes to Tianhe. - **Maglev (planned):** A maglev line is under construction.

Note: Guangzhou South Station is far from downtown (30 min by metro). Guangzhou East and Guangzhou stations are more central.

Visa-Free Transit

Guangzhou is eligible for China's **144-hour visa-free transit** policy. Citizens of 54 countries can stay up to 6 days when transiting through Baiyun Airport. Travel is permitted within Guangdong province — meaning you could visit Shenzhen, Zhuhai (Macau border), Foshan, or Zhaoqing on the same transit.

Canton Fair

The China Import & Export Fair (Canton Fair) is the world's largest trade fair, held biannually in April and October at the Pazhou Complex. Getting Around

**Metro:** Guangzhou's metro system has 16 lines covering the entire city. Clean, efficient, and cheap (¥2-14). Use Alipay to scan at gates. The metro map is extensive — download a metro app.

**Taxis/DiDi:** Starting fare ¥12. DiDi works well. Guangzhou traffic can be heavy — metro is often faster.

**Bus:** Extensive bus network but signage is mostly Chinese. Best for local neighborhoods.

Money & Payments

Alipay and WeChat Pay are universally accepted. Link your international card to Alipay's Tour Pass. Carry ¥500-1000 cash for backup. Major hotels and restaurants accept Visa/Mastercard.

Weather
